HAZARDS THAT THE “GLOVES” WILL PROTECT AGAINST.

  • Prevention of some laceration and abrasion that occurs when the hand hits the ground or road surface after falling from a motorcycle.
  • Reduction in the severity of contusions and fractures, with the prevention of some fractures. -Reduction in the severity of
injury to the wrist and Scaphoid.
  • Reduction in the severity of injury when the hand becomes trapped between a motorcycle and the road. Likely prevention of contamination of open fractures by road dirt when the gloves are worn.

HAZARDS THAT THE “GLOVES” WILL NOT PROTECT AGAINST.

  • Severe bending, crushing or torsional forces particularly those which occur if the hand becomes trapped between a
motorcycle and another vehicle or the road.
  • Massive penetrating injuries to the hand.
  • In particular, broken fingers or wrists may not be prevented by the gloves.

FIT AND ERGONOMICS

In order to benefit fully from the protection offered by the gloves you should ensure that the fit meets the following criteria.

(i) That no discomfort is caused by the glove or the protective parts when you are in your usual riding position and that you are easily able to reach the controls.

(ii) That you are wearing the correct size of glove. (If the gloves are too tight they may restrict circulation which causes tingling in the fingers and speeds a loss of feeling, making the hand become colder. – If the gloves are too big your hand will move inside the glove which will compromise machine control.)

(iii) Handroid gloves are designed to fit Over the cuff of a garment. Tuck the garment sleeve into the glove and tighten the Boa cuff, ensuring that there is no gap between the garment and the glove.

(iv) All other Knox gloves are designed to be worn Under a garment cuff. Ensure the garment sleeve is long enough to meet the glove and can be fastened securely over the glove.

Note: Zero and Strom gloves are designed to sit under the jacket sleeve..

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Storage – Store gloves in a dry, ventilated environment, out of sunlight and away from direct heat sources. Do not leave on the floor or under heavy items – it may lead to the gloves ripped or damaged in some way.

Cleaning – The gloves may be cleaned with a cool damp cloth. There are many natural leather cleaners available which may prove acceptable but only natural creams are suitable.

Maintenance – Regular inspection should be made to the gloves for obvious signs of wear or broken stitches. If either are found the gloves should be returned for professional inspection and repair. Leather products are known to be affected by UV rays and general climatic conditions. Further to this leather is known to thin, stretch and wear with use. These effects are directly related to the type and amount of use and the ageing process may differ significantly depending on this. There is unlikely to be any affect to the quality or effectiveness of the plastic parts over the lifetime of the glove and the Boa closure system has a lifetime guarantee. If the gloves are obviously worn or damaged or there is any doubt as to its condition they should be replaced immediately. It is advised that the gloves are replaced every 5 years regardless of condition.

*In the case of any accident damage you are advised to replace the gloves.

The materials used in the design and manufacturing of the gloves are best currently available and to our knowledge the materials contain no banned chemicals or substances that cause skin irritation or have any detrimental effects to the user.
