Style Notes

The Aegis Back Protector from Knox is a best-selling Level 2 back protector with the largest coverage of protection over the back. Combining honeycomb technology with a tough outer shell the Aegis allows for total freedom of movement, making it the perfect back protector for riders on track. It has the benefit of a removable Machine washable liner for continued freshness and is available in 6 sizes for men and women.  An optional Micro-lock chest protector can be easily added.

    I have been wearing Knox products for over 3 years now. I trust them with protecting me around the Isle of Man TT and Macau Grand Prix street circuits. These circuits are dangerous enough so I make sure to use the best gear possible.

    The Aegis back protector is slim and fits very well in between my body and my leathers. It doesn't ride up and the waist strap is very comfortable.

    I have crash tested them at the TT and Macau GP...walked away each time and definitely attribute the Knox Aegis to giving me the protection I need during those unfortunate incidents!

    I am using the Aegis 5 backplate for Downhill Mountain biking. The first thing is the sizing is perfect for kids it fits really well and is easy to adjust and so comfy and flexible when riding you forget you have it on. It works really well with my neck brace, is easy to adjust and easy to put on and off. It's lightweight and does a fantastic job, I have already tested it in a big off and the back plate took the full impact and I was able to carry on racing. I would say it's the best on the market for kids like me as the fit and protection is perfect unlike all others I have used in the past

    I have been using the Aegis back protector in this years British Supersport Championship and love it. Not only does it fill be with confident that its going to and has twice this season protected me in crashes, its also very comfortable to wear and fits extremely well, making it hard to even feel when you have it on under your leathers. Wouldnt ride without one, on race circuits or the roads. A Must have product!

    I have been using Knox armour products for the past 2 years for my racing within British Superbikes, and cannot fault the Aegis back protector in any way. It fits and contours the back perfectly, and I always feel super comfortable out on the bike and never feel restricted in any of my movements. The waist and shoulder straps are really easy to adjust too, which means you can get it to sit just how you like it on the body.

    Im currently racing in British Supersport alongside the British Superbike Championships and i couldn't recommend this back protector higher. Not only do i feel much safer in the Knox Aegis, ive tested out at high speeds and has kept me safe. It is also the most comfortable back protection out there! Easy 5 stars!

    This is the excellent Knox Back Protector that held up during my recent 100mph+ crash at Brands Hatch GP circuit. After running wide and exiting the track the bike immediately dug into the gravel and flipped me over the handlebars, whilst cartwheeling in mid air the bike caught up with me and hit me directly in the back. The back protector took the majority of the impact and sustained heavy damage, but I only ended up with two minor broken vertebrae, but importantly am able to walk away from this crash. The trauma doctor who treated me said that without the back protector, due to the nature of the impact, there was a significant likelihood I would have sustained much more serious back injuries and had a real chance of even being paralysed. I now won't ever ride a bike again without wearing a Knox Aegis back protector.

    I am using the Aegis 5 backplate for Downhill Mountain biking, it fits really well and is really comfy when riding. It works well with my neck brace, is easy to adjust and easy to put on and off. It's lightweight and does a fantastic job. I have already tested it in a big off I had landing flat on my back in a big rock section on the track. Thankfully the back plate took the full impact and I was able to carry on racing.

    I use one of these along with the chest protector. Never get on the bike without it. At first I thought the way the plates go together might get loose after a while but after 6000 miles of mostly town riding they are fine. the chest protector is well vented and doesn't make you hot in the summer (to be fair it doesn't keep you warm in the winter either!). I guess to give a proper test I need a proper accident and that hasn't happened yet (though did have a minor spill). I don't look after it, i wear it then chuck it in a corner and it still looks like new. Again - knox provide a very clear measure guide (including you tube vids) so make sure you order the right size. They are very good at sorting returns but with the guide you can get it right first time.

    Good quality protection

    In the flesh looks to be a very well designed and manufactured product. Seems to be made of good materials and I’ve no doubts about longevity. Fit is multi adjustable so comfort seems assured. Haven’t tried it out in anger as yet (b****y weather!) so this is no long term review. Worth the money, hope never to need it.

    It is a great and comfortable back protector. But it is also my first non-soft one that isn’t integrated into a jacket, so I cannot compare it to any other protectors. I am happy with it and would recommend it.

    I would definitely recommend this product, easy to put on, great quality. It isn’t bulky either and you really don’t know your wearing it but it does keep your back warm as well. Makes you feel very safe.

    I took a hard landing on my back and head, my leathers burst upon impact with the track but luckily I was wearing my Knox Race Back Protector which did a superb job at protecting my spine. Despite having some nasty grazes to my back, the Knox Back protector saved my spine from serious trauma and I managed to walk away without any broken bones. I even managed to avoid substaining any bruising as well which is truly amazing given the impact I took, the protector did its job perfectly and absorbed the impact.

    Last season I had a crash whilst not wearing a Knox Back protector and I ended up fracturing my T12 Vertebra and spending the next 12 weeks in a body brace. I will never be going out on track without my Knox Protection on in future, it truly is the best safety equipment out there and I owe it to the Planet Knox Guys for keeping my championship campaign alive. I can’t recommend their safety equipment enough, especially the back protectors!

    My 17 year old son as just been in a serious bike accident. Somehow he managed to ride up the ramp of a workman’s trailer , travel over the trailer and cab in the air and land on his back in the road. He was in 2nd gear travelling between 20 and 25 miles per hour. You can see 2 people behind the ambulance – that’s where Tom landed!

    Thanks to the superior quality of your clothing Tom has sustained nothing more than serious bruising. He will be very sore and uncomfortable for a fair few months but thanks to the protective clothing he is safe and well and has astounded the hospital staff by not having any broken bones. He landed on his back after travelling 15-20 feet in the air and was saved, I have no doubt, by your clothing so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    My son was more concerned and none too impressed by the fact that the ambulance staff had too cut his protective (3 week old) clothing off- I am sure later he will realise how lucky he was to have had the correct gear on!!!

    I had an accident earlier this year where a van pulled out in front of me, instantly I went over the bars and landed on my back. I was winded however I got up within a few minutes and I was ok. There was no lasting damage to my back and I was back at work the next day!

    Following my accident earlier this year I will always wear a KNOX back protector.

    I would just like to thank you for the production of your excellent aegis back protector. A couple of months ago i had a head on impact with a car that pulled out directly in front of me. I bounced on the bonnet and over the car, landing flat on my back on the other side. Speed of 100kph approx. Along with my triumph leathers, your aegis protector saved my life. THANKS!!!!!!! The police attending the scene (all bikers) asked about the protection I wore and were very impressed by my lack of serious injury. Thanks again,

    In August 2010 I was involved in a crash on my motorbike at 60mph into the side of a car that pulled out on me. I was very lucky to survive and I am still in recovery with further operations ahead. My Bike and most of the equipment I was wearing were destroyed. My HJC helmet was smashed front and back but held together. The only piece of equipment to survive was my Knox Aeigis back protector and it did a great job as I landed on my back further down the road. My back was one of the few places that was un-injured. I suffered Multiple fractures to my right leg including an open fracture, a cracked sternum, bruised liver and kidneys and two bleeds on the brain. There were several other injuries but those are the main ones. Knox guys, good job on the safety equipment. Please pass that on.

    I bought the new Aegis Back Protector and have been using it for approximately 2 weeks now and had to email you and tell you about it! While I haven’t (and hopefully never will) have to test it, I feel completely safe with this protector on. It is light-weight, comfortable, and gives me peace of mind. The straps around the waist help give my lower back support while I am on longer rides. I looked at the protector and saw the vents on the back and thought that they were a joke; man was I wrong. We have hit over 100 degrees a few times in the last couple weeks and I can feel the air flowing between my back and the protector even though I have it strapped down nice and secure! I love this protector and don’t ride without it. I have every confidence that if I ever were to crash it would do its job. Thanks for helping keep me safe and giving my mom and friends peace of mind while I ride.

    Hi, I’m a big fan of your protection gear and was using the Knox Ageis back protector and the Sport chest protector. On my FIRST ride with them on a car pulled out infront of me and long story short, my bike (07 zx6r) was left snapped in half and I was left in hosptial over Christmas! Paramedics are saying YOUR back protector probably saved my life and I’m inclined to agree as theres quite a bit of damage done to it considering it was strapped to me!

    I was racing in the Knockhill Race club pre-injection 600 race series when I, unfortunately highsided out of the race at approximately 120mph on the back straight. I was wearing Knox handroid gloves, a knox aegis back protector with Knox chest protector, and knox padded impact shorts. I am happy to report that although knocked out cold…. I had no upper or lower torso damage, due no doubt to the excellent protective qualities of the knox body armour. I am also pleased to report that I sustained no hand/digit damage thanks to the handroid gloves. It is remarkable that despite the speed and ferocity of the accident I emerged relatively unscathed thanks to my knox protection! I’ll be purchasing a new knox back protector and shorts, as I was cut out of these at the trackside, and I wont be going racing ( or when I ride on the road) without Knox protection!.

    on August 24th I was in a serious motorcycle accident. I was wearing an Aegis back protector, my wife who was a passenger on my motorcycle was not. We were both wearing full leather gear. We suffered similar injuries however due to the back protector I was wearing my injuries were much less severe than my wife. I am sure I would not be walking today if not for my back protector.
