Having recently headed out to the Moroccan Agafay Desert to sample the latest Tenere 700, it was the perfect environment to test the latest products from Knox.

It’s no secret that selecting the right riding gear for the punishing conditions of the desert isn’t always straightforward. On this particular trip and time of year, we would start our day off at 5c and climax around 35c, a massive variance.

I opted for the Tor Armoured shirt for upper body protection. Utilising its incredible breathability and lightweight credentials, this proved to be the perfect clothing in the heat of the day. When all the other journalists on the test were complaining about being overwhelmed and stressed out by the heat, I was just enjoying the ride!

In the morning, when it was cold, I simply threw on the Tor Shell, which kept the cold wind off my body. The Agafay desert is a hard-packed, rocky desert as opposed to loose sand, so I was glad of the AA rated CE approval should the worst happen.

I selected the Urbane Pro MK2 Trousers for my lower body. I’ve used these extensively in all types of riding from enduro to sports bikes and just knew they’d be perfect for the job… and they were. Great breathability, excellent toughness, and super comfortable.

The new Knox OR4 glove is now available in Sage Green and is the perfect match for my Tor Armoured shirt. These gloves speak for themselves, with off-road glove type feeling with on-road type protection.

Finally, I used the Knox Studio Rucksack. This was a great choice for the trip, it’s full rubber base tough enough to withstand any and every abuse and a great size for carrying all my camera gear. For hydration, I simply inserted a camelbak bladder tube into the main compartment and ran the hose out of the main entry.

At the end of the long ride, I was relaxed, comfortable and surer than ever that the products that we work so hard to perfect, really are the best in the market and work so well in these tough environments.
