Hi there, just a quick letter of thanks from a very grateful customer.
Out riding my R6 last Wednesday in the Northumbria countryside, into a hairpin bend, lost the back end, next thing I know I'm shaking my head at the roadside, 5 minutes after I've highsided, come down on my rear left shoulder and another biker has pulled me and me bike off the road and I've finally come too. Was wearing a corner one piece leather suit but had one of your full length back protectors on. I always put it on when going for a good blast. Broke the left side of my collar bone and have a very stiff upper left shoulder and back of neck but other than that I'm fine and I believe your back protector saved me from much worse back injuries, so, big thanks.

I bought your product (KC100 long) some years ago in the hope that I'd never need it...hahaha....Well 28 October 2003 was the day I did....A track day at Donington Park and all was going well....too well I suppose and as one does I pushed a little too hard and at Coppice corner and the next I know I'm sliding along on my back (70-80 mph get off) along the track, over the rumble strip and 20 yards or so into the gravel trap....and walked away without as much as a bruise....obviously I ended up with a few aches and pains but I am so glad I invested in your product....if I had not been wearing a back protector things probably would have been a lot worse.
Thank you Knox for a great product.

“Whilst taking a right hand bend I caught my knee on a cats eye which sent me sliding down the road into the steel Armco around the outside of the bend, which I hit square on my back. I was then air-lifted to hospital and spent the next four days on a spinal bed. Amazingly I had suffered no broken bones and after two months convalescing I can now almost walk as before. I cannot express how grateful I am that you manufacture the KC2000 Race back protector and I am certain that if I wasn’t wearing mine at the time of the accident I would never walk again. I shall never ride a bike again without it and value your product so much I felt I had to write and give you my sincere thanks.”

Firstly I would like to commend your company on such a fantastic product ! Best ;80 I have ever spent.Unfortunately I had the 'pleasure' of testing your product out, I was onmy bike and hit some mud on the road which caused me to lose control, And I ended up in a field! Everything would of been fine apart from adrainage ditch that my front wheel bedded itself into, spitting me over the handle bars..... I was travelling at about 40mph at the time of the accident, what speed I was doing when I left the road I don’t know. I landed face first in the field and didn't seem to of hurt myself apart from seeing ma bike smashed up and covered in mud! I went to A and E to get ma self checked out due to a stiff neck, massive headache and a very tender back! The doctors having looked at my back and neck gave me the A OK ! But did comment on the pain in my back, as the pain was located centrally in my back they said this was consistent with the back trying to flex the wrong way ie my legs trying to come over the back of my head, as I've gone face first ! Lovely thought! The bit I thought you mind of interest is that the doctors commented on that the back protector had prevented my back flexing too freely, enough to move, but not enough to cause a broken back or neck! And they seemedto think that without wearing it I could of easily broken my back or
neck! A lovely sobering thought!
Many thanks for a life saving product! Keep up the fantastic work and
great products
p.s the back protector is not damaged in any way shape or form, apart
from being a bit muddy!

TAYSIDE POLICE
"Please find enclosed a back protector which is for examination and possible replacement. Unfortunately one of our officers was involved in a serious road traffic accident about 4 weeks ago at which time he was propelled along the road and only came to rest when he collided with some fencing. His back took the full force of the impact and there is no doubt that the Knox back protector, which he was wearing for the first time, saved him from more serious injuries. The consultant at the hospital, commented favourably on the back protector and painted a bleak picture as to the probable outcome had he not been wearing it."
C MacDonald - Sergeant 8518.

After our conversation on the phone I have sent you my back protector for you to inspect. I am sorry I didn’t send it earlier but as you can imagine getting around after a back injury takes a bit of time.
I have always worn a back protector and am very glad I took that decision when I came off my bike. I slid on dirt and debris from two car crashes the previous day and was thrown in a kind of high side crash. I landed heavily on my back at the side of the road, on top of a recently cut down tree. It was about 8-10cms in diameter and about 30cm high. As I landed it speared me in my right side, slightly bruising my kidney and fracturing small bones called transverse process on three vertebra in the lumbar area. Fortunately my injuries should have no long term effects and even now are easing greatly.
The doctors also told me that had I not been wearing my back protector, my injuries would undoubtedly have been a lot more serious and permanent. In the surgeon’s own words “You are a very lucky man, you’ve got a way with it” so for this I want to thank Knox very much that I am only having to get some new gear and not a new lifestyle.

I was wearing the armour under 2 piece leathers (which have CE approved armour to the knees and shoulders). Whilst I was on my bike, an Aprilia Mille and travelling at about 20mph a taxi driver attempted a ‘U’ turn in front of me. I impacted the taxi and either flew over the top of it or across the back.
I landed on my back (helmet has a nasty gash as proof) and travelled about 10 metres along the road. The back of my leathers are also damaged – but only from ‘road rash’. I cannot tell you what happened because I can’t remember. The bike’s a write off. My back is fine – I’ve got whiplash and groin injuries which are not connected in anyway to the protector.
In fact I feel that if I wasn’t wearing the armour I would probably have more serious injuries. I can’t see much wrong with it, I’m obviously more worried about the trauma and impact damage to the armour that I can’t see. I’m 15½ stone for your information and reasonably fit. Call me anytime and I’m sorry I’ve trussed it up like Fort Knox (no pun intended)

Back protector, shorts and body armour
I must tell you....also had "off" where a 250cc rider took me and another rider out in a crazy move up the inside in the Open Class race - I landed heavily on my right shoulder as did the other guy. I stood up, and, after a few swear words to the 250cc rider, got back on the bike and re-started - all thanks to your body protection system(Knox back protector, shoulder pads, protective shorts etc). The other guy was, unfortunately, left with a broken collar bone and a badly bruised right hand side! I asked him afterwards what gear he was wearing - guess what - he didn’t know (but it wasn't Knox stuff!). So, once again - a million thanks to you guys- your stuff really does work! Two riders, same time, same corner, same crash -but two totally different outcomes. He went off to Hospital whereas I went onto get 2nd place!!!! Thank you. You guys are stars! I know he'll be buying Knox gear from now on - he has your leaflet now!
All the best, please pass on our thanks to all at Planet Knox - keep up the good work!
Thanks as always for your continued support.

I’ve just crash tested a Knox Stowaway that I bought at the bike show. You may be interested in the fact that I had cut (eek!) the back protector to make it easier for me to wear; it still worked excellently. I got off the bike around 70mph (difficult to be sure exactly) wearing a Dainese Luce II two piece zip together. One of my objections to the back protector had been that it was an extra item to put on; therefore I cut the stowaway at the join line of the suit and sewed both halves into the jacket and trouser linings respectively. They stayed in place despite a great deal of tumbling and the pressure distribution marks on the back of the leathers show a superb redistribution of the contact pressure on the muscle groups and none anywhere near the spine.
If any of this is of interest, I can let you know more details. And no, I’m not on the scrounge for a free back protector, and yes, I will be phoning you tomorrow with my credit card details to order another.

Hi,
I've just come back from a weekends racing supermoto and was looking
through my kit and noticed for the first time in years my Knox back protector. I've had this piece of kit for several years now and it's just occurred to me that it’s been instrumental in me walking away from a number of racing "incidents". One such incident involved me being thrown into the air at speed and landing directly on my back. Apart from having the wind knocked out of me, I suffered no serious injury, although my ankle and elbow did get badly bruised in the landing.
My Knox has been through the wars with me and it's like a second skin, that's why I've only just noticed it for the first time in years. It is so important to me that it is hung up with my leathers so that I can't forget it.
I just wanted to say thanks for a great product and for keeping me safe.

“On Monday the 18th March I was involved in a motorcycle accident.
As I had the brake on the bike’s (GPZ 500s) rear wheel was lifted in to the air and I was thrown over the front of the bike, I landed on my back and ended up with my left foot on the rear wheel of the bike and my left hand between the front wheel and the bottom of the fairing. My only injuries were a bruised left elbow, bruised knee and a sore right shoulder.
Had I not been wearing leather trousers with armour and a jacket with similar armour my injuries would have been much worse. However the most important protection I was wearing was one of your KNOX roll-up back protector’s as the ambulance crew reckon that this had taken the full force of the impact when I hit the ground. I can only suggest that other biker’s give this piece of equipment the same thought as a quality helmet and good bike leather’s and boot’s £100-500 for a helmet £200-£1000 leathers, so £60-100 is not much to pay to keep your back in one piece.”

I was involved in a motorcycle accident in early July (not my fault) but I was fortunate and sensible enough to be wearing one of your back protectors. Without it I would have broken my back in two places and according to the Police at the scene and the hospital staff, if it wasn’t for the back protector, I would have been killed
.
As it stands I’m still off work recovering from my injuries which include a still very swollen and painful back. I would like to express my sincere thanks for marketing such a robust and safe product, I never rode anywhere without it and for the price, well what price can you put on a life? Many thanks once again.

I have recently started racing as a novice on a budget, I looked around for what I thought would be good value for money in spine boards, I opted for the Knox KC2000 Race. As I pushed for good lap times, my bike and I decided to part company (highsided at 130mph). I was told by one of the stewards that I slid and bounced for 150 yards on my back taking the back out of my leathers. The only thing that kept me out of a coffin, or at the least a wheelchair for life, was your spine board.
I just wish to thank your company and designers for great value and fantastic protection, and I felt so lucky as I walked away with no more than bruises and a very dented ego, but thanks to you it hasn’t put me off and I hope to get back on the track in approx 3 weeks.
Many thanks once again

I was recently knocked off my motorcycle and landed on my head and neck, and then my back. Luckily I was wearing my Knox back protector. When I arrived at the hospital I found I had broken my collar bone in 2 places and had bruised my ribs and legs but not a single bruise on my back.
The doctor said if I had not been wearing the back protector it would have been much worse. I would like to express my thanks for producing such a brilliant piece of kit. I will never get on another bike without it again and will be coming to upgrade the armour in my leathers to Knox armour.

On 16th July I purchased one of your products, The Knox back protector KC 2000. Unfortunately that night whilst riding home I skidded on some gravel, lost control and crashed my bike. The police attended and an ambulance was called. PC Samuels 3505 from Aylesbury Traffic attended. I got away lightly considering the state of the bike, which I feel is thanks to the back protector. I only suffered from very badly bruised ribs and back, but no fractures.
On hearing about my accident and how the back protector probably saved me from more serious injuries, a few of my friends are going out to buy Knox back protectors.
Thanks

Six of us went away to the Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance. An excellent weekend was had by all and set off early on the 14th for the ferry and the usual stock up on cigs and spirits.
Some 40km from Le Havre, I clipped a case of beer that had been dropped onto the road. This sent me onto the hard shoulder which unfortunately ran out and became a series of ditches full of rocks. Down I went, landing on my back, and when I woke I was minus my helmet, a tooth and in some pain. My ZZR 600 is completely wrecked, and has been scrapped in France.
I ended up with:
Both eyes black
Broken left little finger
Chipped and missing teeth
Had broken the end off my Right Radius where it joins the wrist and have it externally fixed, and is fixed internally with an assortment of metalwork.
Eight broken ribs, three front left, five rear left.
Six fractured spinal vertebrae, with spinal compression, causing me to be two inches shorter.
Chest trauma causing bruising to Heart muscles causing odd pulse and blood pressure fluctuations.
When I finally made it back to Plymouth and hospital, I was examined by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who stated without reservation that “without the back protector (Knox Stowaway) I would have been almost certainly killed and if really lucky, paralysed from the middle of the back downwards”,
It’s a little sobering to be told that a bit of kit that is only the cost of one night out can save your life.
As I type this, my elder and youngest brothers, both bike riders, are in Newcastle getting their own back protectors!
Please use any part of this letter as you will, and its contents will hopefully make more riders buy your products and save themselves from serious injury.
The question is, would I buy another back protector? Without a doubt this is a definite yes!
Of the six of us who went away to Le Mans, I was the only to have a back protector, we are all in our 40’s and don’t ride like nutters, but if something like this can happen riding carefully, what about the sportsbike rider riding at the limit?
I hope this is of some use to you, and my family and I really thank you for your excellent product!
Yours sincerely

I thought I would write to you and thank you for your support so far this season and especially your armour.
During the Lydden Hill round of the Nationwide championship for F1 Sidecars on the 5th April 2003, I (the passenger) had the unfortunate task of putting your product to the test.
The grid on this particular race was full (21 bikes) and we were lying fourth.
We had completed 8 laps out of the proposed 10 when on lap nine it all went a bit wrong. As we came down the start/finish straight we were touching approx 130-150mph when as I moved to reach over the rear of the bike I missed a hand hold and tumbled out of the back onto the track.
After narrowly being missed by 4 or 5 of the chasing pack I rolled head over heels for approx fifty yards on the (I can now vouch for this – Extremely hard tarmac).
I was wearing an Alpinestars – P1 race suite with all their armour removed due to its cumbersome size a Planet Knox – KC 2000 Back Protector and a pair of Planet Knox – Fully Armoured Leggings.
The suite was worn through on the arms, back and legs but the Planet Knox Safety equipment stayed Totally Intact and is still showing no signs of wear or deterioration.
The only injuries I sustained were two broken hands and a dislocated big toe. But all the parts of my anatomy covered in Knox Safety Armour were undamaged and without this I feel that it would have been far worse.
I would once again like to thank you Geoff and all the staff at Planet Knox and as long as your happy for me to, will wear Planet Knox safety Equipment at all my forthcoming racing events.
Yours faithfully

Dear Planet Knox team,
We are now at the end of a fantastic season for TFR racing. We finished 16th (out of 96) in our 600cc class and considering we missed 6 rounds due to injury (more of which below!) and that we currently only have a standard engine, we are well pleased.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to you and the Planet Knox team. This is Donington Park on the 19th July 2003 – I’m exiting Goddards Corner (the bike is facing up the track!):
We were running in 5th position at the time in the Open class when the back end let go – big style! This next photo (!) is taken a couple of days afterwards. If you’re squeamish, please close your eyes now:
Without wearing your products (back protector and body armour) I would now be recovering from a broken lower back/coccyx and a smashed pelvis. We’d just like to express our sincere thanks. On behalf of all at TFR racing please keep up the good work.

All the best and see you again in the 2004 season,
TFR racing 2003

Just a brief note to thank you for producing such an effective product.
On the recent 7 day Nick Sanders Moto GB Challenge I had a very big “off” and it was your back protector that saved me.
After having ridden a thousand miles in the previous 4 days, I was pushing hard in the wilds of North West Scotland and misjudged a corner, running off the road and down a bank. I hit a rock, which catapulted me off the bike and into the air. As I did an almost complete 360 degrees, I saw a massive slab of granite I was about to land on and thought “This is it. I’m going to land on that and break my back” Land on it I did, but because I was wearing my Knox back protector, all the shock was absorbed and dissipated so that my only injuries were a sprained wrist and a large bruise at the base of my spine. I am convinced that had I not been wearing the protector, I would have either broken my back and/or died.
So keep up the good work. I will never ride again without my back protector in place and I will be telling all my friends to do the same.

All I can remember of the incident is seeing Tony crashing, going to the right of his R1, and slowing down on the right hand side of the road, preparing to stop and go back to help, when I felt a blow in my back that is hard to describe, then I was trying to get my breath on the ground.
I’m sure others will also be cheered by this comment:
For over 12 years I have been taking my holidays in the Eifel, covering thousands of miles on the “Nordschliefe” making lots of friends from all over Europe at the “ring” and in the area, like you I have a passion for the “ring” but we also love the Eifel area and now enjoy it as much as the “green heaven” for all of our holidays, when the time is right we would like to live there. Yes I still want to go back!
Thanks to my Knox back protector and Arai helmet

2 weeks ago today, I had a horrific head on crash with a car. I was riding a GSXR 600 and fortunately wearing a KC 2000X1 back protector. All the doctors agree that without it I would be dead. Today I am hear to tell the story and on my way to recovery. Since the incident 2 of my good friends have purchased your garments. I am just writing to say thanks. You have saved my life.

Thank you for your letter last week about my motorcycle accident and thanks for your wishes for a speedy recovery.
As I told you in our telephone conversation I broke by left shin-bone and my left fibula, after a heavy impact with a car.
But everywhere I was protected by Knox my bones were OK. That means my knees, hips, arms, back and shoulders. Moreover I have only heavy bruises at my knee and leg.
So I can say Knox protectors in my MQP clothing worked very well.
I have to thank you for developing these protectors.

I’m just back from a potentially very sore couple of days learning to ride off-road at the BMW off-road skills course in Wales.
Happily, thanks in large part to the Knox suit you organised form me, I’m in once piece with no sore bits at all despite plenty of opportunity to test the suit’s strengths.

Please accept this email as my personal thanks for the quality of your product.
2 weeks ago I was involved in a nasty accident from which I didn’t think I would return. I’m sure that if it wasn’t for the Buffalo Clothing I was wearing, which contained the Knox protectors then my injuries would have been far more serious.
When I eventually work up the courage to get back on a bike, rest assured I will be purchasing new clothing with contains your product.

Cross Shirt II
The whole shirt is light, comfortable and safe. It is the best that you can get. The quality of the shirt you realise during long term wearing. In our case it was more than 2 months, minimum 10 hours per day. Our own experience is so good that we cannot imagine the next trip without this Cross shirt. Many falls in cruel Bolivian falls is very good evidence, it saved our ribs, elbows, shoulders and other parts of the body. There is no problem to wear it the whole day.

My own experience is that the socks once saved me before freezing during cruel Bolivian cold in the early evening hours. You do not feel them in the shoe, because they are very thin and comfortable. Perfectly take away sweat and are breathable, as I found out during a warm Argentine day.
